Please join us virtually on Wednesday, August 5th for our next LBS Virtual Social Sipper! We will have special guest Alex Morgan, previously with Jake’s Cigar Bar, walk us through two delicious cocktails. The shopping list and prep details are below which we suggest you make beforehand on Monday or Tuesday.

1 seedless watermelon
2 lemons
freshly picked mint
soda water
bourbon of your choice (90-100 proof and wheated or low rye)

Cut the watermelon in half, and place the meat from one of the halved in the blender or food food processor. Add about 10 leaves of fresh mint. Add the juice from 1 lemon (without it the melon will start to ferment in 1-2 days). Blend all ingredients together, and strain out as much pulp as you can. Pour into a jar which you can seal (mason jars work perfectly), and refrigerate.

A few limes
Organic cane sugar or raw sugar
Ale-8 (a couple cans)
crushed ice
bourbon of your choice

Have the crushed ice ready in your freezer, and do not remove until you make the cocktail. Make a simple syrup with 10-12 blackberries, equal parts cane sugar and water (about 1/2 cup of each). Bring to a boil and then let it simmer until the sugar is dissolved and the syrup has a purple hue. Remove from the heat and store in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Hint: a shot of vodka will help preserve the simple syrup better.
