In lieu of our monthly Distiller’s Series we are going to have our first ever LBS Virtual Cocktail Hour tomorrow, March 15th from 8:00-9:30 p.m.! We are pleased to announced that Iverson Griffon, Head Bartender at OBC Kitchen will be teaching us how to make two different bourbon cocktails. There will also be a Q&A session where you can ask questions, discuss variations, and anything else you might have interest in.

Below you will find the two cocktails we will be mixing, along with a shopping list.


Date: Friday, March 15th
Time: 8:00 – 9:30 p.m.

Please note: Each recipe makes one cocktail

Vanilla Whiskey Sour
1.5 oz Woodford (Or other high rye bourbon)
1 oz Lemon Juice
0.5 oz Brown Sugar Syrup
1 egg white

Coffee Old Fashioned
2 oz Knob Creek (or any 100 proof bourbon. Preferably Beam due to it’s nutty flavor)
0.5 oz Brown Sugar Syrup
0.5 oz Cold Brew Coffee (Or strong chilled coffee)
Angostura Bitters
Black Walnut Bitters
Lemon peal (garnish)

Brown Sugar Syrup
4 cups Brown Sugar
2 cups Water
3 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Kosher Salt
1 oz Vodka

Combine all ingredients except for vodka in a pot, add heat and bring to simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, add vodka, and let cool. Keep refrigerated.

This needs to be ready before the Cocktail hour so you aren’t adding hot syrup to your cold cocktail.

*The brown sugar syrup recipe can be reduced down for a smaller batch. Just make sure to keep your proportions correct.

Brown Sugar
Vanilla extract
Lemon (1 / whiskey sour)
Eggs (1 egg white / whiskey sour)
Cold Brew Coffee (Strong coffee that is chilled will do)
Angostura bitters
Black Walnut bitters
100 proof bourbon
High Rye bourbon (These can be the same or different)
